What is a pension assistant?

Pension Assistants are administrative professionals who support the management and processing of pension schemes. They handle tasks such as maintaining pension records, processing applications, answering queries from members, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Their work helps ensure that pension payments are made accurately and on time, and that all related documentation is up to date. Pension Assistants often serve as the first point of contact for pension scheme members seeking information about their benefits.

Job description

Do you love solving puzzles, following a process to the letter, and being the person people count on to get it right? At Trinity Pension Consultants, our Administrative Customer Service/Distribution Specialists sit at the intersection of customer service, compliance, and math - helping retirement plan participants access their money accurately and on time. If that sounds like your kind of challenge, we want to meet you.
Who We Are
Trinity Pension Consultants, Inc. is a leading regional, independent, non-producing Third-Party Administration firm based in Akron, Ohio. We partner with retirement plan sponsors and their financial professionals to deliver top-tier administration and compliance solutions for employer-sponsored retirement plans - and we're growing.
What You'll Do
โ€ขBe the friendly, knowledgeable voice participants and investment providers count on for distribution and loan requests - communicating clearly, accurately, and courteously every time.
โ€ขDig into regulations and plan documents, verify participant data, and apply plan provisions to calculate vested balances and available distribution/loan amounts.
โ€ขPut your math skills to work running the calculations that determine whether a request is permissible - and get it right the first time.
โ€ขPrepare investment company distribution and loan forms, keep transactions moving on schedule, and accurately bill for participant distributions.
โ€ขBecome the go-to expert on Trinity's systems (Pension Pro, our Distribution Portal, Excel tracking, and more) and on every qualified plan distribution and loan option out there.
โ€ขJump in on cross-departmental support and special projects - we're a team, and we roll up our sleeves together.
Requirements
Must-Haves
โ€ขLive in (or be ready to relocate to) Northeast Ohio.
โ€ขHigh school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
โ€ขPrior experience with qualified retirement plans is a big plus.
โ€ขProficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
โ€ขSharp attention to detail, strong multitasking and prioritizing skills, and a head for numbers.
โ€ขWillingness to complete ASPPA's Retirement Plan Fundamentals and NIPA Loan Administrator Courses.
Benefits
Why You'll Want to Stay
โ€ขReal work on real problems - we do things the right way and keep improving.
โ€ขA true-partner mindset, with our clients and with each other.
โ€ขA culture that promotes from within - when we say upward mobility, we mean it.
โ€ขA team that genuinely wants to hear your ideas, not just your output.
What We Offer
โ€ขSalary based on experience
โ€ขPaid Time Off (PTO), plus the option to purchase more
โ€ข401(k) retirement plan
โ€ขMedical, Dental, Vision, and H.S.A. - effective Day 1
โ€ขLife Insurance, LTD, and STD
โ€ขSummer Fridays
