Description
We are seeking an experienced and driven PEMB Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage industrial construction projects within the mining industry at OSHA and MSHA regulated sites. The Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all field operations associated with Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) installation, building envelope systems, structural construction activities, equipment coordination, and general industrial construction operations.
This position serves as the primary field leader responsible for maintaining project safety, quality, productivity, schedule performance, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple crews, subcontractors, equipment resources, and project priorities in demanding mining and industrial environments.
This is an hourly position reporting directly to the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager.
Requirements
Job Duties and Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:
  • Lead and oversee all field operations associated with PEMB installation and industrial construction activities on mining and heavy industrial projects.
  • Maintain and enforce a strong safety culture in compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, equipment, subcontractors, materials, and construction sequencing to meet project schedules and productivity goals.
  • Coordinate and oversee installation activities for Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) once structural steel erection has been completed.
  • Supervise installation of standing seam roof systems, roof sheeting, wall panels, insulation systems, trim packages, soffit, fascia, gutters, doors, and windows.
  • Ensure proper installation and alignment of building envelope components in accordance with manufacturer specifications, approved drawings, and project quality standards.
  • Coordinate crane activities, rigging operations, material handling, and equipment access required for PEMB and exterior building system installation.
  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and scope requirements to ensure accurate execution of work.
  • Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, clients, subcontractors, and field leadership teams.
  • Monitor project performance including labor productivity, cost control, equipment utilization, schedule adherence, and quality assurance.
  • Conduct field inspections, safety audits, pre-task planning meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), field risk assessments, and lift planning activities.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and schedule impacts in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Manage and mentor General Foremen, Foremen, and craft personnel while promoting accountability, workforce development, and succession planning.
  • Participate in project scheduling, forecasting, budgeting support, project reviews, and client meetings.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower tracking, production reporting, equipment logs, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate project turnover, punch list completion, and closeout activities.
  • Support procurement and material management efforts to ensure field operations remain productive and properly supplied.
  • Travel and overnight stays may be required depending on project location.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
  • 7+ years of supervisory experience in industrial construction, mining construction, PEMB installation, or heavy industrial maintenance environments.
  • Proven experience managing Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) installation, building envelope systems, industrial construction projects, and multi-discipline field operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of standing seam roofing systems, wall panel systems, insulation systems, trim installation, doors, windows, soffit, fascia, and gutter systems.
  • Strong understanding of MSHA and OSHA safety regulations and field safety leadership.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, manpower planning, scheduling activities, and production tracking.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple crews and shifting project priorities in fast-paced mining and industrial environments.
  • Experience with smartphones, tablets, digital reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license required upon hire and as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSHA certification preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Experience in mining, processing plants, aggregate facilities, power generation, or heavy industrial construction.
  • Experience coordinating crane activities, rigging operations, critical lifts, and PEMB erection activities.
  • Journeyman-level trade experience or equivalent field leadership experience preferred.
