PEER WELLNESS CENTER PEER SUPPORT

Plains Area Mental Health, Inc. is a Community Mental Health Center with multiple locations in Northwest Iowa. Our mission is to provide affordable quality mental health services to the people of the communities we serve, respecting each individual’s dignity, worth, and potential for growth. PAMHC is seeking a part-time Peer Support Worker to assist in the operation of the Meeting Place for persons with a serious mental illness.

Pay Range:

$8.09 up to $13.38 depending on experience

Position Summary: The Peer Wellness Center Peer Support staff is responsible for providing peer support or recovery coach services to individuals served at our peer wellness centers. The Peer Support staff is responsible for providing support services and serving as a consumer advocate. The Peer Support staff performs a wide range of tasks to assist consumers in their own recovery process and role model competency in ongoing coping skills.

Requirements:

  • Current or past recipient of mental health or SUD services’ who are presently stable and living in recovery
  • Willing and able to take the required state certification class for either peer support and/or recovery coaching
  • Knowledge and understanding of “recovery” model of service delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual a plus, but not required
