About the unit

We are a 63-bed unit which includes 8 pediatric progressive beds.Our staff have the knowledge to care for many types of pediatric diagnoses which include, but are not limited to, oncology, hematology, endocrinology, neurology, general surgery, ortho, trauma, neuro, ENT surgeries, respiratory, adolescent medicine (disordered eating), gastroenterology, and more.Our healthcare team includes registered nurses, nursing assistants, clinical assistants, nurse practitioners, resident physicians, hospitalists, child life specialists, social workers, dieticians, physical & occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, chaplains, and others who are trained to provide compassionate and high-quality care for our pediatric patients.

It is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent

Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred

American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required

Current CNA certification preferred
