Job Description
Peak's DOT Compliance Coordinator's primary purpose is to provide support to employees, drivers and management to ensure they are following all local, state and federal laws and regulations. They must effectively evaluate, monitor, analyze and identify all driver compliance and non-compliance issues and resolve them in a timely manner. Responsible for helping manage internal and external compliance reporting, providing compliance guidance and assistance and conducting compliance investigations.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Will deliver training to new employees during new hire orientation.
  • Document all training provided within corporate training profiles.
  • Perform DOT inspections, field audits, and facility/yard audits. Identify hazards and mitigation steps while having open communication with leadership.
  • Responsible for responding to incidents during non-working hours and rotating weekend call outs.
  • Travels to work locations to coordinate the overall safety program with field personnel.
  • Consults with operational managers to ensure timely and effective resolution of safety concerns.
  • Present monthly safety meeting topics in a classroom and field environment.
  • Conduct gate checks of company trucks and trailers in accordance with FMCSR's, local and state laws and company policies.
  • Coach and mentor drivers in the completion of proper Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspections.
  • Conducts formal training in classroom setting for both regulated and non-regulated drivers over safe driving behavior topics.
  • Conducts formal training in classroom setting over DOT Compliance topics, including Hours of Service, Driver Qualifications and Electronic Logging Devices.
  • Experience dealing with all levels of employees, from entry-level employees to upper-level management.
  • Must be multi-tasker and team player, able to work within a group, take direction from supervisors, and exhibit tenacious follow through with great attention to detail.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Knowledge of medium and heavy-duty truck components.
  • Specialized training in state and federal DOT regulations and safety requirements is preferred.
  • Experience conducting Smith System Driver Training is preferred.
  • Previous Environmental, Health and Safety experience and training is preferred.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred.
  • Reside or relocate to assigned / dedicated support area.
  • One year Oil and Gas experience.
  • Two years of DOT Compliance experience.
  • Ability to work independently establish priorities and complete competing assignments within required timeframes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle in accordance with Peak's policies.

Physical Demands and Exposures
  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
