Job Title: Welder

Location: Ft. Riley, Kansas

Regular Full-Time


Job Description:

Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, motors and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. This worker welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. This worker may locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch, may perform repairs only and be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.

General Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a certified welder.
  • Must be certified in welding (accredited school).
  • Must be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in cramped areas for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, heavy rain, and snow or sleet.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Safety and OSHA Law & Regulations.
