PCL Industrial Services, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Director of Industrial Quality to lead the district's industrial quality initiatives for complex industrial projects across our active portfolio, including mission critical / data center facilities, power generation and energy transition projects, mining and mineral processing, petrochemical and refining, industrial gases, and water/wastewater treatment. The successful candidate leads the district's quality programs that assure compliance with project requirements.

Here's how a Director of Industrial Quality for PCL Industrial Services, Inc. within Arizona Industrial contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Builds successful teams for long-term PCL projects (internal or external); identifies skills and training requirements and forms team appropriately.
  • Reviews, understands, and communicates prime contract and subcontract details of specifications and requirements.
  • Monitors quality activities on multiple projects to ensure alignment with project scopes as per the contract terms and conditions.
  • Understands the project specifications and their implications and provides guidance for the project.
  • Ensures that visual examination, witnessing, monitoring, and documentation occur as per project quality and inspection testing plans (ITPs).
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the district quality management program (QMP).
  • Reviews and approves work procedures/instructions for quality management execution.
  • Provides recommendations for quality assurance/quality coordinator (QA/QC) task planning.
  • Ensures suppliers and vendors adhere to project specifications, including verification of delivered materials.
  • Oversees audits to ensure adherence to project quality plan/manual and contract document requirements. Ensures nonconformance items are appropriately reported and managed.
  • Conducts trend analysis of audit results and provides executive management with root cause analysis and/or key performance indicators.
  • Stays current with industry practices and technologies and seeks new and innovative construction methods and processes. Drives communication and implementation within operations and with external partners.
  • Collaborates with field management to ensure first installation reviews are completed, documented, and communicated.
  • Ensures that all QA/QC documents and files are properly maintained, and monthly reporting requirements are completed.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of supervisory and leadership experience in quality assurance/quality control and/or the construction industry preferred.
  • Tradesperson or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Regulatory and compliance certifications are required based on the field of discipline (e.g., Electrical SCO, Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) level II or III certification, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Level 1, NACE Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) Level II, API (American Petroleum Institute) 510/570/653 inspector).
  • Compliance with ASME Certification, including Appendix 47 for designers and certifying engineers, ensuring proper qualification requirements to be chartered, licensed, or registered in accordance with one or more agencies or entities.
  • Coaches and mentors quality team member(s) on construction inspection skills on a broad range of scopes of work.
  • Extensive knowledge of various engineering systems, principles, and practices and construction codes
  • Ability to influence, coach, and mentor senior management on district quality management processes.
  • Excellent ability to monitor project progress to ensure timely inspections.
  • Experience in the development and writing of procedures and manuals.
  • Proven ability to lead internal project quality assessments.
  • Experience developing site quality plan.
  • Excellent ability to establish, maintain and influence effective customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and difficult conversation skills. Ability to manage and effectively resolve conflict with stakeholders and influence others towards resolution in high- pressure situations.
  • Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
