Job Title: SMT / PCB Machine Operator II

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SMT / PCB Machine Operator II to set up, operate, and maintain surface mount technology (SMT) and printed circuit board (PCB) production equipment in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality assembly, machine efficiency, and adherence to production schedules and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with SMT equipment, strong troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of electronic assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor SMT/PCB production equipment, including pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, and reflow ovens
  • Load feeders, components, and PCB boards according to work instructions and BOMs
  • Perform machine changeovers, line setups, and product changeovers efficiently
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshooting issues such as misalignment, component defects, or feeder problems
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and post-reflow inspections to ensure product quality
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Identify and escalate equipment malfunctions or process deviations
  • Maintain accurate production records, including downtime, yields, and defects
  • Follow IPC standards, ESD protocols, and company quality procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve efficiency and reduce defects
  • Assist in training new operators as needed

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2โ€“5+ years of experience operating SMT or PCB manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with pick-and-place machines, AOI, reflow ovens, or screen printers preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and work instructions
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610 is a plus)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills for machine interfaces and production tracking systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 35โ€“45 lbs
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a production environment

Work Schedule

Must be flexible to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
