Purpose of the Position

The Electrical Engineer will take full technical ownership of electronics development for Kistler’s sensor and instrumentation product portfolio. This includes schematic design, PCB layout, simulation, prototyping, testing, and compliance for both analog and digital systems.

Main Tasks

Electronics Design & Development

  • Design, simulate, and validate analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuits for sensor signal conditioning, data acquisition, and embedded instrumentation.
  • Develop complete electrical design packages including detailed schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, stack-ups, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform SPICE and circuit simulations to optimize performance, noise, signal integrity, and power consumption.
  • Lead PCB layout with strong understanding of grounding, shielding, controlled impedance, and DFM/DFT practices.
  • Drive prototype builds, board bring-up, debugging, and iterative refinement.

Compliance & Certification

  • Ensure designs meet CE, RoHS, REACH, PFAS, and other compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate and support EMC, safety, and environmental testing.
  • Generate technical files and documentation for regulatory submissions.

Systems, Integration & Collaboration

  • Work closely with mechanical, firmware, software, product management, and manufacturing teams.
  • Provide electrical expertise during NPI, design reviews, FMEAs, and root-cause analysis.
  • Support production test development.

Project Leadership

  • Own schedules, deliverables, and budgets for assigned electronics work packages.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to junior engineers or contractors.
  • Interface with suppliers, PCB manufacturers, and external labs.



Requirements Profile

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering field, from an accredited four-year college.
  • 4-7 years of experience in instrument design or transducer electronics design.
  • Extensive experience in design, manufacture, and testing of electronic instrumentation including analog and digital systems.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements related to restrictions on hazardous substances preferred. RoHS, Reach, PFAS, etc
  • Experience with AS9100 requirements.
  • Familiarity with CAE for circuit synthesis and analysis, Altium preferred.
  • Ability to use Labview and TestStand preferred.
  • Experience in problem identification and corrective action.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Background in transducer electronics or sensor-based instrumentation a plus.
  • Travel up to 5%
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit at a workstation up to 60% of the workday; stand and walk up to 30%; manual dexterity 10%.
