Job description

About Eridan

At Eridan we believe in the power of collaboration and communication to achieve our mission: connect the planet to empower a sustainable, shared future. That mission is possible with our patented transmitter which decreases the cost and power required to roll out 5G by 10x when deployed globally. This is all facilitated through our offices: our Sunnyvale headquarters has big windows (even in the lab!), is walking distance to downtown and the Caltrain, and fits the entire team in the cafeteria for our frequent company parties. About this Job

We are looking for a Senior Layout Engineer who can serve as the critical bridge between circuit design and physical reality. As we scale our breakthrough radio architectures, we need a "Layout Architect"—not just a drafter—who can navigate the complex physics of 10GHz signals and high-density digital routing. You will be the last line of defense before fabrication, ensuring that our high-performance RF and digital systems translate into reliable, manufacturable, and high-yielding PCB assemblies.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Complex Physical Implementation: Own the end-to-end layout of high-density, multi-layer PCBs, including FPGAs, high pin-count BGAs, and mixed-signal architectures.
  • High-Speed & RF Precision: Execute precision routing for high-speed signals (e.g., DDR4) and RF paths up to 10GHz, maintaining strict impedance control and optimal signal integrity.
  • Mixed-Signal Partitioning: Implement sophisticated grounding and isolation strategies to prevent interference between sensitive analog/RF sections and noisy digital circuits.
  • Design for Excellence (DFx): Collaborate with vendors to ensure designs meet DFM (Manufacturability), DFA (Assembly), and DFT (Test) standards, balancing ideal design rules with real-world fabrication capabilities.
  • Library & Workflow Optimization: Manage IPC-compliant component libraries and improve internal Altium workflows using Altium 365 and emerging AI-enhanced ECAD tools.
  • Strategic Oversight: Oversee and review the work of external layout contractors during peak project windows to ensure quality and adherence to Eridan's standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 10+ years of PCB layout experience, with expert-level proficiency in Altium Designer.
  • Technical Depth: Proven expertise in routing high-speed digital (DDR4), RF up to 10GHz, and High-Density Interconnect (HDI) techniques.
  • SI/PI Intuition: A deep understanding of the physics of layout, including controlled impedance, power plane decoupling, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Vendor Fluency: Experience working with fabrication vendors on stack-ups, process alignment, and down-costing efforts.
  • Action-Oriented: You are proactive in identifying signal or power integrity risks during the layout phase and don't wait for lab testing to find errors.

Ways To Stand Out

  • Experience with Rigid-Flex PCB design and thermal management techniques.
  • Background in EMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigation in design.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards beyond library development (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-7351).
  • Experience working in a GIT environment for hardware version control.

Who Thrives Here

The person who succeeds in this role is a technical partner to the engineering team, not just a tool operator. You thrive here if you treat footprint creation as a "zero-error" task and find pride in "first-time-right" fabrication. At Eridan, we value "Intellectual Courage"—the ability to push back when design requirements clash with physical reality—and an innovative mindset that seeks to use AI and modern tools to work smarter, not just harder.

Perks of working at Eridan

  • Work on new technology that will make a significant impact on global infrastructure
  • Ability to learn, develop, and advance within a flexible environment
  • Collaborate with smart, passionate, and helpful co-workers
  • Celebrate progress company-wide
  • Pre-IPO equity
  • 401K with automatic match
  • Health, Vision and Dental insurance

Salary Range

Given our anticipated growth, we are open to hiring individuals with varying levels of experience to fill this role. Salary will be commensurate with job-related skills, experience and other relevant factors. The base salary range for the primary location of this role is between $155,000 and $180,000 plus stock options and benefits.

Eridan is an equal opportunity employer. We value and celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
