Payroll Clerk II

Position Announcement

Civil Construction Company based in Leander Texas is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Clerk II to support accurate and timely payroll processing, maintain payroll records, respond to employee payroll inquiries, and assist with payroll reporting and compliance activities. This position requires strong organizational skills, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Prepare, review, and process payroll information in accordance with established schedules, policies, and procedures.

· Knowledge of Job cost accounting is required. Bilingual Spanish is a definite plus.

· Collect, verify, and enter payroll data, including hours worked, leave balances, deductions, adjustments, and employee record changes.

· Review payroll reports and records for accuracy and assist with reconciliation and audit activities during each weekly pay cycle for 75-100 employees (statewide).

· Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, or omissions in a timely and professional manner.

· Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, leave, time records, and related payroll matters.

· Maintain payroll files and records with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required; related coursework in accounting, business administration, or payroll administration preferred.

· One to three years of payroll, accounting, clerical, or related administrative experience.

· Working knowledge of payroll practices, recordkeeping, and payroll compliance requirements.

· Proficiency with payroll systems, data entry, spreadsheets, and standard office software.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information.

· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, self-starter and time-management skills.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills and a customer-service-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with payroll software such as, or a comparable system.

· Experience preparing payroll reports, reconciling payroll data, or assisting with year-end payroll activities.

· Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

· Bilingual Spanish, a definite plus.

Company Description

Austin Filter Systems, Inc. a civil construction company working for municipalities throughout the State of Texas. Our corporate office is located in Leander, TX.
Our corporate business office has a small staff with six to ten employees, but we maintain 50-99 employees working on our multiple construction jobsites statewide at any given time.
The primary duties required are an understanding of job cost accounting, receiving payroll timesheets electronically from various locations, entering them on our software package. Maintaining the employee files, and account correctly for payroll deductions required by law.
Final preparation and printing payroll checks by Thursday, but occasionally by Wednesday so checks can reach the job sites Friday by noon.
