Job description

Project Accountant
LiveWire's group of growing companies is looking for a Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. The Project Accountant's primary responsibility is to support both the PM and Accounting teams by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of contract modifications, compliance documentation, project payments, reports and any other duties related to the project. This position reports to the Controller and will oversee the company's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. They perform daily accounting tasks such as monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and record payments and adjustments. This position reports directly to the Controller.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Documentation Compliance:
  • Manage day to day project accounting for multiple projects
  • Maintain project documentation compliance, including certificates of insurance and fully executed contracts
  • Manage subcontractor compliance with terms and conditions of the contract, including items such as bonds, insurance, waivers, billing accuracy, etc.
  • Ensure that accounting software is updated with project change orders.
  • Timely and accurate processing of project documentation such as certified payroll

Project Financial Management:
  • Review and process change orders for entry into accounting software
  • Collect, review, and process monthly project invoices
  • Ensure proper payments to all subcontractors and major suppliers
  • Provides monthly assistance to the Project Management staff in the preparation of monthly billings and financial projections
  • Generate and accurately process monthly General Construction G702/703 progress billing in a timely manner
  • Collect, review, and submit monthly project billings
  • Lead project AR collection efforts and track project AR past due per contract terms
  • Review subcontractor billing for accuracy

Job Cost Management
  • Review, analyze, and take appropriate steps to maintain accurate Job Cost Reports
  • Investigate any unbilled project costs
  • Process project cost transfer and budget adjustment requests
  • Ensure all AP invoices have been accrued in a proper and timely manner to the correct cost reports and phase codes

Requirements:
  • Self-motivated and self-managed

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - specifically Excel and Word

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficient in accounting software- Foundation preferred
  • Extensive union experience
