Job description

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Accounting and Payroll Manager who can own our internal accounting functions and roll up their sleeves to support our payroll operations team. This is not a corporate bureaucracy job. You will have real responsibility from day one and work directly with company leadership.

What You Will Own on the Accounting Side

  • Day to day bookkeeping and general ledger management in QuickBooks Online
  • Monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet review
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable management
  • Monthly financial statements including P&L and balance sheet
  • Commission reporting and payment processing
  • Sales tax filing and payment
  • Budget tracking and variance reporting
  • Annual 1099 processing and W-9 management
  • Coordination with external CPA and insurance agents
  • Banking functions including account reconciliation and treasury support
  • Third party bank certifications and year end financial reporting

What You Will Support on the Payroll Side

  • Assist payroll processors with client research and troubleshooting
  • Support multi-state payroll tax administration using isolved
  • Assist with quarterly and year end payroll tax processes including 941s, 940s, W-2s, and state filings
  • Provide backup support for ACH processing and positive pay functions with dual controls
  • Support client billing coordination across isolved and QuickBooks

What We Are Looking For

  • 5 or more years of accounting experience, preferably in a service business or payroll company environment
  • Strong QuickBooks skills - you need to be comfortable owning the books, not just entering data
  • Payroll industry experience is a strong plus; isolved experience is a bonus but not required
  • Working knowledge of multi-state payroll tax is preferred
  • Someone who understands banking operations and is comfortable with treasury management functions
  • High attention to detail - you are handling client funds and financial reporting, accuracy is non-negotiable
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload without being micromanaged
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
