Job Purpose
The Payroll Assistant is responsible for the administrative support of processing multiple payroll tasks and compiling payroll data. This position is also responsible for working with confidential information including but not limited to direct deposit requests/changes, wage garnishments, data entry, W-2 and answering questions from facilities across US.

Education / Training
• High School Diploma; required;
• Associate Degree; preferred;
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; preferred.
Key Job Elements
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll files, records and documentation;
• Assist with payroll processing, garnishment processing, child support and tax levies, payroll checks, and direct deposit data;
• Provide clerical support to the Payroll department;
• Answer frequently asked questions from facilities and/or employees relative to standard payroll policies, and refer more complex questions to appropriate senior-level payroll staff or Payroll Manager;
• Process time records and payroll data for multiple facilities and provide support to field locations;
• Analyze payroll issues and recommend corrective actions;
• Review data entry from entry from junior level payroll staff;
• Maintain accurate employee earnings and tax withholding payment records;
• Transmit tax deposits to multiple taxing authorities and assist with the preparation of payroll-related tax returns;
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports, compiling data and data entry into required systems for Payroll Manager;
• Adhere to appropriate procedures to maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
• Strong knowledge of federal and state laws while maintaining confidentiality of payroll files and information;
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office;
• Excellent math and analytical skills;
• Detail oriented, sense of urgency, good follow-through and strong customer skills;
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize and manage workload and work in a teamwork environment;
• Experience in PeopleSoft is a plus.
Essential and Physical Activities Functions
• Strength - Must be able to lift 40 lbs;
• Motion - The position is primarily in an office setting requiring sitting at the desk the majority of the day;
Vision/Hearing Requirements - May spend long periods of time in front of computer screen;
• Work Environment- Will spend the majority of time in office environment, although exposed occasionally
to plant facilities requiring exposure to hot and cold environments along with noise exposure;
• Emotional Demands - Must have good communications skills;
• Safety - Not a safety sensitive position but does requires the use of PPE when in a production environment.
