The Payroll & HR Operations Specialist is responsible for multi-state payroll administration and employee lifecycle processing for an assigned portfolio of communities. This role serves as the primary payroll and HR resource for community leaders, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while researching payroll issues, resolving employee concerns, and providing operational support throughout the employee lifecycle. The position also plays a key role in community acquisitions, transitions, onboarding, and internal auditing efforts that support compliance and operational excellence.

Who We Are

"Our supreme goal is to do and be the best in all we undertake, and to provide a Stellar life for our residents, their families, and our employees."
– Evrett Benton, CEO

If you are looking for a company and team that understands the value of people, then look no further!

Stellar Senior Living is a premier assisted living and memory care provider throughout the Western United States. Founded in 2012, we have experienced consistent growth by adding senior living communities to our family each year. As we continue to grow, we're looking for talented individuals who want to grow with us.

What You'll Do
  • Process accurate and timely biweekly payroll using Paylocity.
  • Serve as the dedicated payroll and HR partner for an assigned portfolio of communities, providing responsive support to Executive Directors, Business Office Managers, and employees.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, timekeeping issues, and employee pay questions by analyzing employee status changes, compensation, benefits, leave activity, taxes, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions including new hires, promotions, transfers, pay changes, leaves of absence, and terminations while reviewing payroll for accuracy and proactively resolving discrepancies prior to payroll processing.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, company policies, and payroll best practices.
  • Travel to communities as needed to support acquisitions, community transitions, employee onboarding, training, and other operational initiatives.
  • Participate in payroll and HR audits and recommend process improvements that enhance accuracy, compliance, and the employee experience.
  • Support additional HR, payroll, and operational initiatives as assigned.
We're Looking for Someone Who...
  • Has 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably processing multi-state payroll.
  • Understands payroll beyond data entry and can troubleshoot payroll issues by recognizing how employee status changes, compensation, benefits, leave, taxes, and deductions impact employee pay.
  • Thinks critically, exercises sound judgment, and provides exceptional customer service while building trusted relationships with employees and operational leaders
  • Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to successfully manage multiple communities and competing priorities.
  • Communicates professionally, confidently, and with empathy when assisting employees and managers.
  • Enjoys building relationships and is comfortable traveling to support communities during onboarding, acquisitions, and other operational initiatives.
  • Is comfortable learning employment laws, payroll regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Has experience with Paylocity or another HRIS/payroll system (Paylocity experience is strongly preferred).
  • Takes ownership of issues from start to finish and enjoys finding solutions rather than simply processing transactions.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience required; multi-state payroll experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience administering employee changes including new hires, promotions, transfers, leaves, and terminations.
  • Experience using an HRIS/payroll system (Paylocity preferred).
  • Ability to travel periodically, including overnight travel, to support community onboarding, acquisitions, training, and other business needs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
What We Offer
  • $22.00-$26.00/hour DOE plus Profit Sharing Bonus
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Opportunities for advancement within a growing organization
