Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Payroll Specialist to join on a temporary basis a payroll team and support hourly payroll processing as well as a variety of payroll and HR administrative functions. This is a great opportunity for someone with 2–3 years of payroll experience who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for approximately 500+ employees, with a primary focus on hourly employees
  • Utilize UKG Pro for payroll processing and administration
  • Process and verify regular wages, overtime, deductions, exemptions, benefits, and other payroll adjustments
  • Handle payroll tax-related activities and employee tax forms
  • Manage direct deposits and payroll-related reports
  • Process and maintain payroll-related changes including:
    • Raises and wage adjustments
    • Leaves of absence (LOA)
    • Wage verification
    • Benefits
    • Exemptions
    • Deductions
  • Assist with payroll invoicing, including sorting, reviewing details, and ensuring accuracy
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality when handling payroll and employee information

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of prior payroll processing experience
  • Hands-on experience processing hourly payroll
  • Experience with a payroll system such as UKG Pro, ADP, UltiPro, Kronos, or similar
  • Experience processing payroll in Maryland; multi-state payroll experience is not required
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with detailed data and reconciliations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • CPP certification is preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
