The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for Tao Group Hospitality's multi-state workforce. This role serves as a subject matter expert for payroll operations and partners closely with Payroll Leadership, People Practices (HR), Accounting, Finance, Operations, and venue management to ensure payroll data integrity, regulatory compliance, and exceptional internal customer service.

The Senior Payroll Administrator performs complex payroll processing activities, researches and resolves payroll discrepancies, administers payroll adjustments, conducts payroll audits, and supports payroll system enhancements and process improvement initiatives. This position also provides guidance and mentorship to Payroll Administrators, assists with training, and contributes to departmental projects that improve operational efficiency and the employee payroll experience.

  • Partner with Payroll Accounting regarding tax updates, jurisdiction changes, and payroll compliance requirements.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processing including:

  • Support internal and external payroll audits.
  • Perform comprehensive pre-processing and post-processing payroll audits.
  • Audit electronic timecards to ensure:
    • Accuracy

    • Compliance with company policy
  • Review payroll exception reports and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll transmission.
  • Maintain payroll data integrity across all systems.
  • Verify payroll imports and interface files prior to upload.
  • Serve as a primary resource for payroll-related questions from employees and management.
  • Research and resolve payroll issues accurately and within established service standards.
  • Communicate professionally through phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Partner with venue management to resolve payroll discrepancies in accordance with company policies and applicable labor laws.
  • Assist with payroll check distribution when required.
  • Monitor outstanding payroll checks and coordinate stale-dated check resolution while maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Support payroll system implementations, upgrades, testing, and enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency through automation and standardization.
  • Participate in departmental projects focused on continuous process improvement.
  • Assist with documentation and maintenance of payroll procedures and best practices.
  • Ensure payroll process documentation remains current.
  • Train and onboard new Payroll team members on systems, policies, and payroll procedures.
  • Mentor Payroll Administrators by providing guidance on payroll processing, issue resolution, and best practices.
  • Assist Payroll Leadership with workload balancing and payroll assignments during peak processing periods.
  • Promote consistency in payroll operations through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll information.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives involving Payroll, Finance, Accounting, HR, Benefits, and Operations.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Assist and/ or complete additional tasks as assigned

EDUCATION/WORKING KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office, POS systems, Oracle knowledge preferred.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible payroll experience.
  • Experience processing high-volume, multi-state payroll.
  • Hospitality industry payroll experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with payroll system implementations or conversions is a plus.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
