Job description

Our team is looking for compassionate, caring and considerate companions to become angels for San Diego's residents and participants in the best years of their lives!
BASIC FUNCTION: Set up and serve meals to residents in the St. Paul's Manor in an expeditious and courteous manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sets up tray service (dishes, flatware, glasses, etc) and carts for the residents.
  • Portions out desserts, salads, soup and cereals for each resident diet.
  • Serves hot and cold foods while adhering to portion controls and diet modifications.
  • Transports carts to and from the Manor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to communicate with, be interested in, and have compassion for the elderly.
  • Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, in the English language.
  • Must be able to read menus.
  • Should have good organizational skills to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Needs to have the ability to work in a team environment both in dietary and the overall health care team.
  • Must be able to maintain professional composure under stressful conditions and situations

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of a high school or GED equivalency.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language.
  • One year of food service experience as a diet aide, preferably in senior living/health center or institutional food service department
