Job description

Position Purpose: Our Floral Designer will be responsible for executing a wide variety of tasks throughout the store. The Floral Designer is a floral products expert who maintains and operates the produce floral department including designing, cutting and arranging live, dried or artificial flowers, gift baskets and foliage according to department standards. 

Responsibilities: A Floral Designer is a responsible, friendly person who can safely work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.

A Floral Designer's responsibilities include:

  • Trimming material and arranging bouquets, wreaths and other items using trimmers, shapers, wire, pins, floral tape, foam and other materials.
  • Pricing and displaying floral products in sales cases.
  • Actively selling merchandise.
  • Informing customers about the care, maintenance and handling of various flowers, foliage, indoor plants and other items.
  • Advising customers of appropriate merchandise selections, conferring with customers regarding type of arrangement or plant desired.
  • Filling customer orders correctly and filing the names of customers and their preferences to facilitate future sales transactions.
  • Conferring with customers regarding price and type of arrangement desired and the date, time and place of delivery.
  • Planning arrangements according to client's requirements, utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials, and selecting appropriate standard design patterns.
  • Following approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, price marking and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation.
  • Assisting in checking and verifying the produce department's products.
  • Taking received and prepared products to refrigerated storage, shelf and display areas.
  • All other related duties as assigned
