Job Description 
 
This role provides hands-on manufacturing support for soft goods, leveraging experience with textiles, fabrics, and production materials. Supports full lifecycle from R&D to production with test setup as needed. 
 
Role Responsibilities
 
-Assist in the development, documentation, and verification of soft goods manufacturing processes. 
-Fabricate, assemble, and test soft goods prototypes and production hardware. 
-Oversee and support soft goods fabrication and assembly activities in a production environment. 
-Provide backup support to Manufacturing Engineering as needed. 
-Diagnose product and process issues, clearly documenting and communicating findings. 
-Perform quality inspections and verification through final product acceptance. 
-Create patterns from existing components and/or engineering drawings and specifications. 
-Build and assemble flight train components, including ladders, parachute sleeves, and Stratocraft assemblies. 
-Support load testing activities for flight train systems. 
-Provide hands-on support to build across multiple work cells as required. 
-Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet schedule and production goals. 
-Participate in continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and quality. 
-Safely lift and move objects up to 40 lbs., regularly bend, stoop, and perform other physical tasks associated with manufacturing work. 
 
Qualifications 
 
-Minimum 1 year of experience operating industrial sewing machines; experience in aerospace, aviation, automotive, or marine environments preferred. 
-Experience working in Foreign Object Damage (FOD)–controlled environments. 
-Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and work instructions. 
-Basic technical skills in soft goods fabrication, repair, and assembly, with the ability to work with limited supervision. 
-Ability to identify quality issues and report nonconforming parts to a supervisor. 
-Mechanical aptitude with experience repairing, refurbishing, or modifying soft goods components. 
-Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and inventory tracking. 
-Comfortable using computers for data entry, manufacturing systems, and recordkeeping. 
-Flexible and adaptable to changing production needs; willing to learn new processes and tools. 
-Time management skills and ability to meet production deadlines. 
-Clear communication skills and ability to work well with supervisors and teammates. 
-Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including OSHA guidelines and proper use of PPE. 
-Experience with sewing, textiles, webbing, heat sealing, and use of fabrication tools. 
 
Bonus Points 
 
-Experience working with stratospheric balloon systems or high-altitude flight hardware. 
-Hands-on experience with sewing, heat sealing, and/or ultrasonic sealing processes. 
-Experience operating or supporting automated manufacturing systems. 
-Parachute rigger experience or equivalent hands-on rigging background.
