Job description

Job Type: Hazardous Materials Technician – Patrick Space Air Force Base – Cape Canaveral, Florida

Reports to: Director of Environmental Compliance

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Bhate Environmental Associates, Inc. is seeking a Hazardous Materials Technician to manage the Air Force Enterprise Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) for Patrick Space AFB; assist shops with submitting Process Authorizations, review Process Authorizations submitted in EESOH-MIS, and make recommendations for authorization; track HMs entering Patrick Space AFB in EESOH-MIS; monitor organization use of EESOH-MIS to ensure hazardous material is properly tracked and users are authorized; train HM customers through classes and personal interactions on the proper use of EESOH-MIS.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • The HM Technician will: assist in tracking users and ensuring all System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) forms are up-to-date, accurate, and properly approved; perform an annual SAAR validation and report results to AFCEC.
  • The HM Technician will compile the data necessary to accomplish EPCRA reporting and provide EPCRA data reports. The HM Technician will prepare the EPCRA Form Rs for JBAB.
  • The HM Technician will order supplies for the IHMP program.
  • The HM Technician will: perform visual storm water inspections of water in storm water outfalls during a qualifying rainfall event; arrange for the sampling supplies and shipping samples; collect storm water samples during qualifying rainfall events; monitor and record weather conditions.
  • The HM Technician may also assist the Hazardous Waste Technicians, as needed.


Minimum Education/Training Requirements:


  • High School Diploma, Associates or 4-Year Degree and/or relevant experience and the ability to obtain relevant certification for work to be performed.
  • HAZWOPER 24/40-Hr Certificate & 8-Hr Annual Refreshers (if required)


Other Requirements:


  • Pass a government background check, to obtain a government issued Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Possess a valid U.S. State-issued driver’s License.
