Job Description:
May Awning & Patio Co. is a Portland-based family owned and operated business that specializes in designing, building, and installing residential patio covers, pergolas, awnings, and sunrooms. We also do several commercial projects. At May Awning & Patio Co. we value diligence, resourcefulness, and creativity. Were seeking a Patio Cover and Sunroom Laborer who has similar values and can put their training to work on a variety of initiatives ranging from inventory and shop organization, professional and courteous customer interactions, and executing projects to the standards of quality and innovation we are known for. We offer competitive pay, on the job training, and the opportunity of advancement to lead installer positions.
Responsibilities:
  • Pickup material from manufacturer and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload material shipments and maintain an organized and safe shop environment.
  • Load/unload material, organize trucks, and travel to/from job sites.
  • Operate jobsite tools and equipment.
  • Demolition and removal of pre-existing covers, awnings, or debris/hazards from project site.
  • Install/repair awnings, covers, sunrooms, heaters, and other outdoor equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and clean project site with high respect to customer property.
  • Ensure customers are satisfied with the final product that they receive.
  • Communicate project status with management, office/operation personnel, and customer.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills with management, office personnel, co-workers and customers.
  • Talent for problem solving and a strong attention to detail.
  • A desire to function as part of a collaborative effort in a team environment and a willingness to learn every day.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Strong time management and able to arrive at the shop and job locations on time and prepared.
  • Ability to handle physical labor and weather conditions.
  • Must show pride in the quality of their work.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience as a general laborer in the construction industry or patio cover installation experience is preferred but not required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
