Job description

Job Title

The Canton Health Center is an Ambulatory Care facility comprised of clinical services, dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. We are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient-oriented individuals who will share the goal of creating the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees

Responsibilities

Provide check in, checkout and general clerical support for the Canton Health Center. Provide exceptional customer service to patient and families by facilitating business processes that result in the management of efficient patient flow in a fast paced environment. Provide a range of guest services, including way finding and information within the facility. Additional responsibilities include: appointment scheduling. Process all patient payments (co-pays and outstanding balances) including: confirmation of patient charges, collection of payments, balancing of receipts and the reconciliation of cash collections. Navigate electronic medical record, maintain business work queues, and in basket management. Verify and update patient information, obtain referrals and/or authorizations. Respond to inquiries concerning department programs, services and activities. Provide general information to staff and patients

Required Qualifications

Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Desired Qualifications

Solid working knowledge of computers and navigating multiple computer applications. Able to multi-task in a robust, fast paced environment. Professional and Positive Interaction with Patients, Providers, and Staff. Ability to work independently, identifying priorities while contributing as an active team member. Basic Medical Terminology. Existing MiChart or EHR experience. Knowledge of UMHS policies and procedures. Demonstrated record of excellent attendance. Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team setting. Communicates effectively.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Monday thru Friday including one evening shift weekly. 11:00 a.m.- 7:30 p.m. and rotating Saturdays.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
