Join Our Team as a Patient Escort I - Evening Shift (Part-Time)

Are you passionate about helping others and making a difference in a healthcare setting? We're looking for a compassionate and reliablePatient Escort Ito join our team and support patient care by ensuring safe and timely transportation throughout the hospital.

Position Details

  • Location: Christiana Hospital - Newark Campus

  • Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM; 24 hours weekly (8-hour shifts)

  • Additional Requirements: Every other weekend and participation in a holiday rotation

What You'll Do:
  • Safely transport patients via stretcher, wheelchair, bed, or specialized vehicle to and from various hospital departments.

  • Assist clinical staff with patient transfers.

  • Maintain and care for transport equipment.

  • Attend training sessions and departmental meetings.

  • Follow safety protocols and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education:High school diploma preferred.

  • Experience:2 years of customer service experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Certification:Must be able to obtain BLS certification upon hire.

  • Skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to walk and stand for long periods

    • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency

    • Knowledge of hospital layout and body mechanics

    • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism

Physical Requirements:
  • Continuous standing, walking, pushing/pulling heavy equipment.

  • Occasional bending, crouching, lifting.

  • Exposure to cleaning agents, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.

This position has a starting rate of $17.32 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.34 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.34 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
