Job Summary
Schedules appointments for incoming phone calls, and via appropriate assigned MACC Fund Center work queues, following set MACC Fund Center Scheduling protocols, to determine level of need for all patients coming through our MACC Fund Center Clinic/Day Hospital. Also provides Secretarial coverage for the MACC Fund Center Oncology Clinic Front desk as needed. Responsible for maintaining smooth and efficient flow of patients in clinic, performing functions delegated by nursing and physician staff and maintaining and promoting a safe, clean and organized environment for all patients.
Essential Functions
- Confirms and transcribes physician orders in Epic paying close attention to details.
- Schedules in partnership with the Surgical Services team all MACC Fund Center Special procedures in the Operating Room, Interventional Radiology and MACC Fund Center Day Hospital.
- Manages assigned work queues to ensure accuracy and completion of patient appointments in out MACC Fund Center Clinic & Day Hospital per MACC Fund Center guidelines.
- Greets patients and families in accordance to the Front Desk Service Standards.
- Maintains clinic flow, monitoring patient location and wait time. Communicates with physicians and staff to maintain optimal clinic operations.
- Monitors daily DAR (Daily Appointment Report) which includes, but is not limited to management of daily appointments, no-shows, cancelled appointments and schedules re-call appointments.
- Prepares exam rooms and directs patients/families to exam rooms and obtains and documents patient height, weight and vital signs into Epic.
- May perform phlebotomy and capillary puncture procedures.
- Collects and labels specimens and ensures delivery to the appropriate department.
- Assists with procedures and patient care as directed by the nurse or physician.
Education:
- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) Required
Experience:
- 1+ years scheduling experience Preferred
- Previous experience in a pediatric healthcare environment Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Interpersonal skills necessary to gather and share information with physicians, patients, visitors, families and team members in a courteous and confidential manner.
- Knowledge of Epic preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
