Position Summary: The Health Institute at Hardy is an innovative and dynamic program that launched in August 2025, offering career-connected pathways for students interested in high-demand healthcare fields and is unique within Philadelphia.

Through a partnership with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), fueled by generous funding support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, students will engage in hands-on learning, including labs, internships, and dual-enrollment courses, leading to certifications in healthcare fields through three pathway programs focused on clinical, operations, and administration roles in healthcare. We seek dynamic educators to teach the foundational Introduction to Health Care Careers I & II courses for 9th grade and 10th-grade students. This role is pivotal in building students’ understanding of healthcare careers and cultivating technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills essential for success.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Job Functions: Deliver rigorous, engaging instruction aligned to Mastery’s curriculum and state standards Drive student achievement and set high expectations for all students Implement rigorous and appropriate lesson plans, assignments, and assessments in cooperation with Mastery school-based leadership and curricular resources developed by Mastery’s central office team Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data to measure progress and use data to inform instruction Collaborate with colleagues and in grade-level teams make interdisciplinary connections, align instructional practices, discuss student work, share best practices, plan events for joy and humor, and ensure student mastery of standards Engage families in their children’s education by building relationships and maintaining regular communication Integrate real-world applications and durable skill development to teach healthcare concepts Prepare students with in-depth health care knowledge so that they will be on track to pass rigorous health care industry-recognized credentials and be eligible for high-wage, high-growth careers at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foster an inclusive, student-centered classroom that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and resilience Build students’ knowledge of healthcare pathways, including healthcare IT, sterile lab processing, and medical assisting Integrate and align guest speakers, field trips, and immersive hands-on learning experiences with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia health care professionals into planning and implementation of health care instruction Support the planning and development of curriculum materials for advanced specialized health care career pathway coursework for students across grades 7-12 Qualifications: Commitment to professional growth, self-reflection, a receptiveness to feedback, and a desire to continuously improve Demonstrate genuine interest, belief, and care for students’ personal and academic success Respond positively and effectively to challenges with a solutions-oriented resiliency Strong understanding of healthcare fields and industry trends. Ability to develop engaging, standards-aligned lessons. Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Commitment to continuous improvement, equity, and high expectations for all students. Education and Experience: Education: Bachelor’s degree (required); degrees in healthcare, education, or a related field preferred. Experience: At least five years of experience in the healthcare industry (highly preferred); experience in education and/or workforce development is a plus.

Certification: Valid teaching certification (or eligibility for an Emergency Teaching Certification). Industry-recognized credentials in healthcare fields such as: RN, LPN, CMA or CSLPT Other Requirements: Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person facilitation of trainings, etc.; This role may require frequent travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is essential to fulfill job responsibilities.

Salary and Bonus Information: This role is eligible for a $5,000 bonus as well as up to $5,000 for relocation expenses! New teachers start at $60,900, with Mastery offering up to $83,500 based on experience and education. Salaries range from $60,900 to $112,700, with growth opportunities as your career progresses.
