A pathology physician assistant (pathology PA) helps a pathologist with their examination of patients and the diagnosis of diseases. Pathologists also may assist in the determination of the cause of death for deceased people. As a pathologist’s assistant, you have different duties depending on the type of work; your job responsibilities often involve preparing patient samples and specimens, examining them, and recording data on findings. You may help perform postmortem examinations under the supervision of a pathologist or collect information from living patients to help diagnose a disease. Pathology assistants often oversee operation, inventory, and staff in a pathology lab.
