Job description

Pathology Market Medical Director

HCA Healthcare Pathology Services and their East Florida Division is seeking a Pathology Market Medical Director to be based at HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital overseeing 3 additional HCA Healthcare Hospitals: HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital and HCA Florida Highlands Hospital.

This is a working leadership position to include approximately 90% clinical and 10% administrative responsibilities. Administrative duties include participation in committee meetings, scheduling, quality data control, workload distribution and tumor board participation for the assigned market. Clinical duties include signing out anatomic pathology cases, frozen sections, FNAs, clinical lab oversight, test utilization oversight, participation in pathologist on-call rotation and blood utilization consultations. The Market Medical Director will need to build effective working relationships with the administrators and pathologists at each assigned hospital. The successful candidate will have excellent team building skills and the ability to mentor junior associates.

Qualifications:

  • AP/CP Board Certification is required.
  • 3 – 5 years hospital-based Medical Director experience is required in a large or multi-hospital setting.
  • Florida licensed or FCVS in place
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing a large group
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Pathology Volumes/Cases:

  • The practice consists of two pathologists
  • Case volumes: 3700 cases per year inclusive of surgicals, cytologies, and bone marrows
  • No gyn-cytology or autopsy coverage
  • Oversight of the labs within the free-standing emergency departments associated with the hospital
