About the Role:

The Electrical Engineer designs and integrates medium-voltage power distribution systems for modular solutions serving mission-critical data centers and industrial markets (oil & gas, renewables/BESS, mining, and utility).
This role owns the electrical scope for projects of moderate to high complexity, leading system architecture, equipment specification, protection strategy, grounding design, and compliance with applicable UL, IEEE, and NFPA standards.

You will coordinate cross-functional interfaces across switchgear, transformers, protection systems, ATS, UPS systems, batteries, grounding, and auxiliary systems to deliver safe, code-compliant, arc-flash-mitigated, and manufacturable modular E-House and skid-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop power system architectures (one-lines, three-lines as required) for MV (5kV–35kV class) and LV modular systems.
  • Size and specify major equipment in accordance with applicable standards, including: UL 1558, UL 891, UL 857, UL 67 IEEE C37 series (e.g., C37.20.2, C37.20.7)
  • Select equipment interrupting ratings and short-circuit withstand ratings consistent with calculated available fault current.
  • Define grounding and bonding strategies in accordance with NEC and IEEE 80 / IEEE 3007, including skid/baseframe bonding and site grounding interfaces.
  • Specify and integrate transfer switch systems (UL 1008) and UPS systems (UL 1778), including maintenance bypass schemes and redundancy topologies (N, N+1, 2N).
  • Coordinate battery and energy storage integration (UL 1973, UL 9540), including DC distribution, disconnecting means, monitoring, and safety interfaces.
  • Define protection philosophies and relay schemes consistent with IEEE C37 standards; coordinate settings development and review.
  • Develop control and interlock philosophies (EPO, permissives, trip schemes, alarms) in coordination with controls and protection engineers.
  • Develop schematics for auxiliary AC/DC power, lighting, receptacles, panelboards, and control panels (UL 508A where applicable).
  • Coordinate electrical interfaces with HVAC and fire protection systems (NFPA 72, NFPA 855 as applicable).
  • Support UL/NRTL listing efforts and major customer compliance programs.
  • Produce and/or review electrical drawing packages (one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnects, cable schedules).
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for designed products, ensuring alignment with drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate with procurement, project management, and production teams to support material readiness, project execution, and manufacturing success.
  • Support FAI/FAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
  • Performs other job-related duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial, utility, or mission-critical power distribution design.
  • Demonstrated experience with MV equipment (5kV–35kV class), including switchgear and protective relaying.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • NEC (NFPA 70)
    • NFPA 70E
    • IEEE C37 series
    • IEEE 1584
    • UL switchgear/switchboard standards
  • Experience performing or leading short circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with arc-resistant MV switchgear (IEEE C37.20.7).
  • Experience with data center power architectures (2N, distributed redundant, catchers).
  • Familiarity with NFPA 110 emergency power systems.
  • Experience with UL 9540 energy storage systems integration.
  • Utility interconnection coordination experience.
  • PE license or EIT with path to licensure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing on the manufacturing floor and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds at times.

May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings.
