Job description

Passport Health - Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Medicine Specialist
Washington, DC | Full-Time or Part-Time
This isn't a traditional nursing role-and that's exactly the point.
Passport Health is North America's largest travel medicine and immunization provider, with more than 300 clinics across the U.S. and Canada. We're looking for experienced RNs who are ready to step away from the pace of hospital nursing and into a role focused on clinical autonomy, patient education, and meaningful one-on-one care.
Why Nurses Choose Passport Health
Most of our nurses work independently-no charge nurse, no hospital staffing ratios, and no endless task lists. Instead, you'll spend your day educating patients, administering vaccines, and helping travelers prepare safely for international travel.
Travel medicine is a unique specialty where you'll build expertise in:
  • International travel health
  • Vaccine-preventable diseases
  • Destination-specific health recommendations
  • Preventative care and patient education
  • Every appointment is a consultation, allowing you to provide personalized care and build meaningful patient relationships.

Location: Washington, DC 20036
Employment Options:
  • Full-Time; Guaranteed 32-40 hours per week
  • Monday-Friday schedule
  • Saturday rotation required (approximately monthly or every other week)
  • Eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and Paid Time Off
  • Part-Time; 24 hours a week
  • Flexible weekday schedule based on clinic needs
  • Opportunity for additional hours during peak travel season
  • Occasional Saturday coverage required

What You'll Do
  • Conduct comprehensive travel health consultations
  • Administer vaccines following standing orders
  • Educate clients on destination-specific health risks
  • Recommend travel health products and medications as clinically appropriate
  • Manage clinic inventory, documentation, and regulatory compliance
  • Support corporate wellness and vaccination events as needed
  • Complete ongoing travel medicine education and specialty training

Immigration Medical Services: Our Washington, DC clinic also support immigration medical services, including required vaccinations and documentation for USCIS applicants. Training is provided, and nurses supporting these services receive guidance on required documentation and compliance processes.
Scheduling: Passport Health uses a patient-demand scheduling model while providing consistency and advance schedule visibility whenever possible.
  • Full-time nurses are scheduled for 32-40 hours per week
  • Part-time schedules are built around clinic demand and nurse availability, 24 hours a week is anticipated
  • Additional hours are often available during peak travel season (February-August)
  • Nurses who are flexible and willing to support additional nearby clinic locations may have additional scheduling opportunities

What You Need
  • Active RN license in good standing
  • Compact (multistate) RN license accepted, provided you legally reside in the licensed/practicing state
  • Three or more years of clinical nursing experience
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Strong communication and patient education skills
  • Reliable computer for online training
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory (up to 25 pounds)

This Role Is Great For Nurses Who

  • Are looking for either full-time stability or flexible part-time work
  • Enjoy patient education and preventative care
  • Value autonomy while still having strong clinical support
  • Appreciate a predictable outpatient environment
  • Are dependable and comfortable with occasional Saturday coverage

Ready to Apply?
