Join Our Team: Vocational Trainer (VT) Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with special needs? Join our team at EXCEED, where we are dedicated to empowering individuals with special abilities to reach their full potential.
Position Overview We are seeking a passionate Vocational Trainer to join our team. In this role, you will support individuals with special needs in developing job skills and succeeding in workplace settings. Responsibilities include providing hands-on training in job tasks, equipment use, and safety, coordinating employment supports such as transportation, and assisting with job development.
You will help develop client goals and assessments, document progress, implement behavior support strategies, and advocate for clients in the workplace. This role plays a key part in promoting independence, building confidence, and supporting individuals in achieving their employment goals through a person-centered approach.
Requirements
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists in job development
  • Coordinates transportation and other support for client employment as necessary
  • Provides instruction on equipment, job duties and safety at job site
  • Assists in developing client objectives and client assessments
  • Maintains documentation on services provided and client progress
  • Applies behavior modification programs
  • Advocates for the client at the work place
  • Attends and participates in assigned meetings
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education, and Experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Hold a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Maintain state minimum auto insurance coverage.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Must pass Criminal Background Clearance.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to role model appropriate behavior and attitudes in professional settings.
  • Availability and flexibility to work varying schedules.
  • High school diploma/GED Preferred
  • Ability to understand and implement program objectives
  • Five (5) years work experience

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to actively demonstrate and work alongside individuals in various entry-level positions.
  • Routine activities include sitting, walking, and standing while instructing or observing individuals.
  • Ability to endure extreme temperatures.
  • Capacity to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity required to handle materials for diverse tasks.
  • Proficiency in fine motor skills for completing paperwork.
  • Awareness of occupational safety and temperature conditions.
  • Coordination skills for lifting, carrying, climbing, and balancing.
  • Agility for stooping, reaching, crouching, and crawling as needed.
  • Clear vision and hearing to effectively engage with individuals and employers.

Mental Abilities
  • Ability to interpret instructions and effectively communicate with individuals.
  • Proficiency in mathematics to accurately complete necessary paperwork.
  • Skill in meeting deadlines and ensuring timely submission of requested information.
  • Sound judgment to advocate for individuals, identify safety hazards, and apply appropriate behavior modification techniques.
