Description
Position Title: School Bus Driver
Reports To: RPA Facility & Transportation Manager
Schedule: Monday through Friday; Split shift 5:30 a.m.-8 a.m. and 1 p.m.-3:30 P.M.; 5 hours per day on 186-day calendar
Compensation: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour, depending upon experience, includes PERS retirement
Key Responsibilities:
Driving Safety
  • Maintains training and certification along with a thorough working knowledge of all laws, procedures, and regulations governing school bus drivers and student transportation.
  • Performs pre-trip inspection on the bus prior to driving.
  • Drives school vehicles safely while transporting students on regular daily routes to and from Bend and other regional CET Hubs.
  • Reports traffic violations or accidents following RPA procedure.
  • Responsible for maintaining the bus in good repair, cleaning the bus daily, and replenishing fuel and fluids as needed.
  • Completes all required reports on a timely basis.
  • Provide transport for field trips, shuttles, or additional events as needed.

Student Safety
  • Maintain control of students on buses.
  • Reports student behavior to School Directors immediately.
  • Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  • Assists students loading onto the bus, conducts required passenger instruction and administers first aid to passengers as required.
  • Performs evacuation drills as required.
