Job Summary:
The Institute for Innovations in Developmental Sciences (DevSci) is seeking a highly motivated individual for a 0.50 FTE research project coordinator position to support the Supporting Kids with Irritability in Language Learning (SKILL) research study (PI Brittany Manning, PhD, CCC-SLP). The SKILL study will use a community-engaged, co-design process to adapt and implement socioemotional/behavior management support strategies in early language intervention. Responsibilities will include recruiting and scheduling participants, conducting community partner (caregiver and clinician) interviews and focus groups, developing and sending out research surveys, and assisting in the design of online clinician training materials. Additional tasks may include IRB related activities and REDCap database management and data analysis. There are opportunities for co-authoring scientific publications and posters. This is an optimal position for an individual with expertise in early childhood development, mental health, or language development. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a clinically focused research setting. Prior experience developing or supporting clinical training programs or materials is a plus.
The individual will be joining a fast-paced and dynamic research setting and will work with professionals from a range of disciplines in a highly collaborative environment. This position requires a strong attention to detail, clear scientific thinking, a strong interest in early childhood language and mental health development.
This is an hourly, part-time position (0.50 FTE, 20 hours per week). The position is hybrid with regular in-office requirements and may occasionally include evening and weekend hours when needed based on participant availability.

Flexible working hours (hybrid) with potential occasional evening and weekend hours. This role is part-time; 20 hours a week.
Supervisor provides objectives, deadlines and specific instructions only for new, difficult, and/or unusual work. Work is reviewed upon completion and only occasionally to verify technical accuracy and compliance with practice, policy, and procedures. EE informs supervisor of on-going progress and/or potentially controversial matters.
Specific Responsibilities:
Technical

• Recruits study participants.
• Reviews and obtains informed consent.
• Schedules study visits with participants.
• Conducts interviews and focus groups.
• Facilitates communication with key personnel and participants maintain project study flow.
• Assists in the design of clinician training materials.
• Assists in community outreach and dissemination.

Administration

• Maintains detailed records of study data.
• Assists in IRB activities.
• Performs scientific literature searches.
• Completes portions of grant applications &/or documents associated with current
• local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research
• protocols.

Finance

• Manages participant payment.

Supervision

• Acts as a mentor in regard to education of junior coordinators.

Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in social or health science major (e.g., psychology, child development, speech-language pathology).
• Prior research study experience, preferably in a clinically focused research program.
• Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years

• Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills, in person and via phone/web/zoom
• Comfort working directly with participants and community partners
• Exceptional organizational, time management, attention to detail and personal accountability
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and accurate data entry
• Training/knowledge in early child developmental
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a social or health science major (e.g., psychology, child development, speech-language pathology).
• Experience with project and database management is preferred.
• Experience working with clinicians, families, and other community partners.

• Knowledge of the Illinois Early Intervention program
