Senior Accountant / Accounting Supervisor
Staff Accountant (Part-Time)

At Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC), our Accounting team plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of high‑quality patient care. We are seeking a detail‑oriented, analytical, and dependable Staff Accountant to join our team in La Junta, Colorado.

Position Summary

As a Staff Accountant, you will support the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems, policies, and procedures. You will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, assist with payroll and tax processes, and provide support to the Controller and accounting team to ensure compliance and efficiency.


Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations amp; Support
  • Manage and implement accounting policies, procedures, and financial systems
  • Monitor accounting workflows to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time
  • Ensure departmental compliance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Monitor financial systems, investigate discrepancies, and assist in resolving issues
Financial Analysis amp; Reconciliation
  • Assist the Controller with financial projections, trend analysis, and general ledger review
  • Support reconciliation processes and assist staff with balancing discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate financial data and assist with reporting as needed
Payroll amp; Tax Functions
  • Assist with payroll processing and related accounting functions
  • Support preparation and distribution of W‑2s and other IRS forms
  • Assist with resolving tax‑related issues and serve as a resource for financial information
Systems amp; Process Improvement
  • Test accounting system updates, modifications, and enhancements prior to implementation
  • Document all testing processes and ensure system accuracy
  • Participate in continuous improvement and workflow efficiency initiatives
Teamwork amp; Professionalism
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and supporting accounting staff as needed
  • Maintain strong working relationships within the department and across the organization
  • Support a culture of safety, quality, and accountability
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reliability in all job functions

QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or ability to obtain within 18 months)
  • CPA certification
