Responsibilities
The Patient Safety Sitter works under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Assists the professional nursing staff by providing direct observation of patients with behavioral changes. Maintains a safe environment and engages the patient in diversional activities. Reports any changes in patient behavior to the nurse.
  • Responsible for the safety of patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse
  • Observes patient status for changes in behavior and reports all observations to the Registered Nurse
  • Ensures patient safety by providing a safe environment, observes the patient's environments for safety risks and takes necessary steps to reduce the risk.
  • Applies appropriate interventions: Observe, redirect, diversional activities.
  • Must be able to work in situations with isolation precautions.
  • Ensures positive patient and team interactions by promoting HMH core beliefs and standards of behavior.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy and dignity.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs (or in progress).

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Previous experience in a setting with direct patient contact.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.

Starting Minimum Rate
Minimum rate of $17.42 Hourly
