Job description

Our Construction Equipment group is seeking a full-time Field Service Supervisor to work onsite five days a week at our Tampa, FL location. The Field Service Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing the field service team while ensuring safe, efficient, profitable, and customer-focused service operations. This role is accountable for technician performance, service revenue, customer satisfaction, work-in-progress (WIP) management, work order accuracy, communication, and overall service department profitability.

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Organize and present at weekly tech meetings and safety training
  • Maintain high-quality service delivery in an efficient, productive, and profitable manner
  • Maintain ongoing maintenance schedules for service accounts
  • Organize, coordinate, and schedule all scheduled maintenance, replacement, and Customer service work orders
  • Assist or assign assistance for technician on accounts to ensure work quality
  • Maintain open and positive communication (both in verbal and written form) with employees, departments, customers, and vendors
  • Maintain appropriate staffing level and workload distribution to meet customer and business needs
  • Provide leadership and operational management for a team of 20+ Field Technicians
  • Dispatch according to priority
  • Meet or exceed monthly budgeted revenue with a 65% or higher GP
  • Work with PSSR to quote repairs timely and accurately
  • Open and close work orders with accuracy and clarity for customer billing
  • Monitor employee training progress
  • Discipline according to the Alta Handbook– working closely with HR
  • Oversee payroll entry and audit for accuracy
  • Purchase order acquisition and coordination
  • Monitor work in progress daily
  • Responsible for condition of service vehicles and facility
  • Required to be in the on the weekend on call rotation for your segment
  • Recruit / interview / hire technicians
  • Perform yearly technician reviews
  • Promote a positive customer experience
  • Incorporates Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
  • Performs other duties as needed

Desired Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 2-4 years of previous oversight experience preferred 
  • Dealership experience is highly preferred
  • Good mechanical aptitude 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to successfully manage others 
  • Computer Skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Business Intelligence (BI); Fleetmatics, Paytrace, Concur, and Extend
  • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 
  • Reasoning Ability - High: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
  • Mathematical Skills - Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will sit, use hands, talk/hear; Occasionally will stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste/smell.
  • Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Occasionally up to 25 pounds
  • Work Environment: Occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions
