Parts Manager Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day parts operations including ordering, inventory control, and over-the-counter sales.

  • Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate parts department staff.

  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing excess stock.

  • Build and manage vendor relationships; negotiate pricing and delivery terms.

  • Handle parts returns, warranty claims, and track inbound/outbound shipments.

  • Maintain precise documentation for parts transactions and inventory records.

  • Coordinate with the service department to forecast and fulfill parts needs.

  • Track department KPIs and implement strategies to achieve monthly targets.

  • Ensure safety and compliance with company policies and OSHA guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in parts management (trailer, or heavy equipment preferred).

  • Proven success in inventory control, vendor negotiations, and team leadership.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Comfortable using inventory software and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 70 lbs.

  • Frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending, and lifting.

  • Use of hands, arms, and visual focus for handling parts and tools.

  • Work is primarily performed in a warehouse/shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and equipment.

  • Occasional office tasks using standard office equipment.

  • Forklift certification and safety training provided upon hire.
