Position Summary:
We are seeking a Parts Department Manager to lead our parts operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building a reliable, accurate, and cost-effective parts supply chain. You will oversee inventory accuracy (including leading a full physical inventory), procurement, supplier development, shipping/receiving, and close collaboration with finance, engineering, and service teams to support both new fleet orders and existing customer needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a current Parts Assistant Manager or experienced Parts Manager ready to take full ownership in a growing, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Develop and maintain accurate inventory systems and procedures. Lead a comprehensive physical inventory count to establish a clean baseline. Implement controls to ensure ongoing accuracy and optimal stock levels.
Procurement & Sourcing: Manage all parts procurement, including sourcing from contract manufacturers and identifying new domestic/international suppliers for better pricing, quality, and lead times. Negotiate terms and build strong vendor relationships.
Shipping & Receiving: Oversee all domestic and international inbound and outbound logistics for parts.
Financial Collaboration: Partner closely with the Finance Director to manage inventory valuation, turns, obsolescence, and working capital requirements.
Engineering Collaboration: Work with the Head of Engineering on new product introductions, bill of materials (BOM) accuracy, and technical procurement needs.
Service & Warranty Support: Partner with the Service team to ensure timely parts availability for customer repairs. Maintain accurate warranty documentation and claims processing.
Team Leadership: Build, train, and lead the parts department team. Drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement: Establish efficient workflows in an ambiguous, evolving environment while supporting large new fleet orders and daily customer fulfillment.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in parts management or inventory leadership.
Strong background in automotive, powersports, marine, heavy equipment, or similar OEM/industrial parts environments is highly desired.
Proven experience managing inventory, procurement, and logistics (including international shipping is a plus).
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, drive initiatives, and thrive in ambiguous situations.
Experience turning around or building inventory accuracy from a low baseline is a strong advantage.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Proficient with inventory management systems (ERP experience preferred).
Fishbowl Inventory System is a plus but not required.
Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
