DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Market Development Manager is responsible for leading innovative customer-facing marketing and market development initiatives that support Strategic Marketing across State Associations, Consortia, and strategic purchasing programs, like Omnia Partners, LLC. This role drives customer engagement, revenue growth, new business development, and share-of-wallet expansion by maximizing participation in Fisher Scientific's portfolio of purchasing programs and strategic partnerships.
Reporting to the Segment Sr. Marketing Manager, the Associate Market Development Manager develops and executes integrated marketing and growth strategies that strengthen Fisher Scientific's value proposition across Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Academic, Healthcare, Government, and other key market segments. The role collaborates closely with Sales, Marketing, Industry Directors, Supplier Partners, and external organizations to execute customer-focused initiatives, promotional campaigns, events, and business development activities that accelerate customer acquisition, retention, and program utilization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop annual strategic marketing and market development plans for State Associations, Consortia, and assigned purchasing programs in alignment with the Segment Sr. Marketing Manager's strategic direction, updating plans quarterly to respond to evolving market conditions and growth opportunities
  • Execute integrated marketing campaigns and commercial initiatives that drive profitable revenue growth, customer acquisition, market expansion, and increased customer participation across assigned programs
  • Serve as the business owner for assigned State Associations, Consortia, cooperative purchasing organizations, and other strategic purchasing programs, driving customer engagement, adoption, and revenue growth
  • Partner with Fisher Scientific Sales teams, State Association and Consortia Marketing teams, Industry Directors, and Supplier Partners to develop customer-facing tools, presentations, sales enablement materials, and promotional campaigns
  • Support new customer acquisition initiatives, including responding to RFPs for multiyear agreements and coordinating promotional activities at State Association and Consortia membership events
  • Analyze sales performance, customer trends, market opportunities, and program utilization to identify opportunities for growth and recommend strategic actions
  • Develop marketing collateral, customer communications, and value proposition messaging that differentiates Fisher Scientific's products, services, and purchasing programs
  • Represent the voice of the customer by collaborating with Marketing, Product Management, Industry Directors, and commercial stakeholders to identify portfolio, service, and program enhancements that meet evolving customer needs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with State Associations, cooperative purchasing organizations, suppliers, and other strategic external partners to strengthen Fisher Scientific's market presence
  • Coordinate supplier participation and promotional opportunities that align with strategic growth initiatives
  • Monitor competitive activity and market trends to identify opportunities for differentiation and market expansion
  • Lead quarterly business reviews with the Segment Sr. Marketing Manager and Industry Directors by providing actionable business insights, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations
  • Track and report key performance indicators including revenue growth, customer acquisition, customer participation, program utilization, market expansion, and marketing ROI
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned State Associations, Consortia, and purchasing programs, providing guidance and support to internal commercial teams

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, market development, business development, or a related commercial function
  • Experience developing B2B marketing campaigns and customer communications
  • Experience working with State Associations, cooperative purchasing organizations, group purchasing organizations, or strategic partnerships is preferred
  • Knowledge of laboratory, biotech, pharmaceutical, industrial, healthcare, education, or government markets preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Salesforce, or similar reporting tools
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a complex, cross-functional matrix environment
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with home office support teams and field-based Sales teams
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Understanding of channel relationships and distribution business models is highly desirable
  • Ability to communicate Fisher Scientific's value proposition through customer-focused marketing and commercial initiatives
  • Experience coordinating events, promotional activities, suppliers, and external partners
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15%, with occasional short-notice travel, weekends, and holidays
