Building Materials Manufacturer - Exterior Envelope
Location: Anywhere in Ontario - accessible to International Airport
Territory: USA, 1 week per month travel to the US
On behalf of our client, an established Canadian manufacturer of premium building products, we are seeking a Business Development Manager to support their presence across the United States. This individual will be tasked with working closely with contractors, developers, distributors, and project managers in key regions, and supporting the specification pull-through created by colleague partners.
Our client is recognized across North America for high-quality, design-forward, environmentally friendly materials used in high-end residential, institutional, and niche commercial projects. With a strong reputation, active project pipeline, and long-standing relationships stretching right across North America, this role offers the opportunity to step into a well-positioned territory (US) with existing momentum.
This position has been created as a result market demand via sales efforts across the US, particularly within the A&D specification channel. An individual with experience working with contractors, builders/developers, and project managers is required to support and enhance the sales cycle for their discerning clientele.
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with strategic partners, and driving revenue growth within assigned markets. They will drive demand, support active projects, and identify new opportunities across the region while working remotely from Toronto and traveling one week per month into the US market.
The role is ideally suited to someone based within an hour of the Greater Toronto Area OR Ottawa, for ease of access to an International Airport.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across key segments including commercial, residential, and institutional projects
  • Establish and grow relationships with contractors, builders, project managers, developers, and other key partners
  • Plan and execute territory strategies that support consistent revenue growth and target achievement
  • Deliver product presentations, site visits, and hands-on demonstrations to support project engagement
  • Work closely with marketing, technical, and inside sales teams to align on opportunities and support active projects
  • Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting through CRM systems
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and shifts in the construction landscape
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities

Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Proven success in sales or business development within the building materials or construction industry
  • Experience working with contractors, builders, or project stakeholders on active construction projects
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across a range of stakeholders
  • Highly organized with strong time management and territory planning capabilities
  • Comfortable working remotely (home office) with regular travel into the US market
  • Experience using CRM systems is an asset

Location and Travel

This role is home office based within Ontario, with easy access to an international airport.
Regular travel into the US is required (one week per month), with the remainder of the time spent working from a home office.
Must hold a valid passport and have the ability to travel to the United States without restriction.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to rent a car in the United States without restriction.
Compensation Disclosure
Base salary $90,000 - $95,000 Base + Bonuses + Uncapped Commission (HIGH OTE) + Health & Dental Benefits + 3 weeks vacation + Business Car Mileage + all business expenses (hotel, car rental, meals & entertainment).
