Business Development Executive– IT Services (Energy Sector)

Job Summary


We are seeking a Business Development Manager with experience in IT services sales to drive business growth within the Energy & Utilities sector. The ideal candidate will identify new business opportunities, build relationships with energy clients, and sell digital transformation, cloud, AI, data, and enterprise IT solutions. This role requires strong consultative selling skills, account management, and experience managing the complete sales lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities in the Energy & Utilities industry.

• Generate leads through networking, referrals, LinkedIn, industry events, and cold outreach.

• Build relationships with decision-makers, including CIOs, CTOs, IT Directors, Procurement, and business stakeholders.

• Sell IT services such as Cloud, AI/GenAI, Data Engineering, Application Development, Cybersecurity, DevOps, SAP, Salesforce, and Managed Services.

• Understand client business challenges and propose customized technology solutions.

• Prepare proposals, RFP/RFI responses, presentations, pricing, and contract negotiations.

• Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting to deal closure.

• Collaborate with delivery, solution architects, recruiters, and technical teams to develop winning solutions.

• Maintain a healthy sales pipeline using CRM tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dynamics.

• Meet quarterly and annual revenue targets.

• Develop strategic partnerships with technology vendors and implementation partners.

• Stay updated on industry trends, digital transformation initiatives, renewable energy, utilities, and emerging technologies.


Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience in IT services sales or business development.

• Experience selling technology solutions to Energy, Utilities, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, or Power sector clients.

• Strong knowledge of Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), AI/GenAI, Data Analytics, ERP, Cybersecurity, and Digital Transformation services.

• Experience handling RFPs, contract negotiations, and enterprise sales.

• Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

• Experience using CRM platforms.


Preferred Skills

• Existing network within Energy & Utilities organizations.

• Knowledge of Smart Grid, IoT, Asset Management, SCADA, GIS, and Energy Trading platforms.

• Understanding of utility operations, power generation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy.

• Experience working with Fortune 500 or enterprise clients.
