Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.ย 

Job Overview:

The Account Executive, Business Developmentย  is responsible for the activation of Heritage Park as Calgary's most unique and memorable venue and production location.ย 

This includes directly executing the organization's business development and outbound sales strategy, driving revenue growth with a primary focus on catered events and venue-based experiences, while maintaining and growing travel trade contributions, including group experiences, group sales, and film production opportunities.ย 

This role is both strategic and hands-on, with direct accountability for prospecting, pipeline development, client acquisition, and closing business. The position plays a critical role in building and managing a high-performing sales pipeline, ensuring consistent conversion and sustainable revenue growth.ย 

In addition to core revenue streams, this role is responsible for the growth and promotion of Heritage Park's film location and production sales business, positioning the Park as a premier destination for film, television, and digital media production.ย 

The position requires a strong working knowledge of all Heritage Park business streams and plays a critical role in expanding market reach through strategic prospecting, relationship building, and community engagement. As a visible representative of the organization, the Senior Account Executive fosters key partnerships and strengthens Heritage Park's presence within the corporate, tourism, and event sectors.ย 

The ideal candidate is a results-driven sales leader who brings both strategic insight and hands-on expertise, with the ability to guide and develop team members, build high-performing pipelines, and effectively position Heritage Park as a leading destination for unique events and production experiences.ย 



Responsibilities:

Business Development and Revenue Growth

  • Lead the development and execution of the organization's business development and outbound sales strategy across priority markets, including corporate meetings, conferences, galas, weddings, community events, tourism experiences, and film production opportunities.ย ย 
  • Build, develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring consistent prospecting activity, strong conversion rates and measurable revenue growth.ย 
  • Own pipeline performance end-to-end, including lead generation, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.ย 
  • Establish sales targets, performance metrics, and activity expectations for the portfolio; monitor results and implement adjustments to achieve or exceed goals.ย 
  • Provide leadership and direction to business development activities, including prospecting strategy, territory planning, and client acquisition approaches.ย 
  • Guide consultative sales practices, ensuring alignment between client needs and Heritage Park's venue offerings, catering services, and event experiences.ย 
  • Directly engage in high-value client interactions, including meetings, site tours, presentations, negotiations, and key account development.ย 
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality execution of outbound sales efforts, including proactive prospecting, lead generation, qualification, and conversion.ย 
  • Apply consultative sales practices, ensuring alignment between client needs and Heritage Park's venue offerings, catering services, tourism experiences, and production capabilities.ย 
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction to Travel Trade sales efforts, ensuring alignment with overall business development objectives and supporting growth in group travel, tourism partnerships, and visitation.ย 

Sales Leadership & Team Coordinationย 

  • Provide strategic leadership and coordination across business development, tourism, and group sales initiatives while actively contributing to individual sales targets and pipeline growth.ย ย 
  • Ensure alignment between individual sales activities and Heritage Park's broader revenue generation, external sales, and tourism strategies.ย 
  • Partner with team members in account development, sales strategy execution, and closing opportunitiesย 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to coordinate participation in industry events, trade shows, networking opportunities, and targeted sales initiatives.ย 
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of sales processes, tools, and best practices to strengthen overall business development performance.ย 


Film & Production Sales Developmentย 

  • Lead the development and growth of Heritage Park's film location and production sales business.ย 
  • Actively promote Heritage Park as a premier destination for film, television, and digital media production.ย 
  • Identify, pursue, and secure film and production opportunities through outbound sales and industry engagement.ย 
  • Build and maintain relationships with producers, location managers, studios, and other industry professionalsย 
  • Facilitate the formal handoff of secured film projects to the Security & Film Operations Manager, ensuring alignment with and adherence to the Film Business Operating Model.ย 
  • Maintain oversight of the film sales pipeline, ensuring alignment with overall business development objectives and revenue growth.ย 
  • Position Heritage Park within the film industry to increase visibility, reputation, and long-term market presence.ย 


Community and Market Engagementย 

  • Serve as a senior ambassador for Heritage Park, representing the organization at networking events, tourism initiatives, tradeshows, and industry functions.ย 
  • Develop and sustain strategic relationships with corporate clients, event planners, community organizations, tourism partners, and key stakeholders.ย 
  • Identify and pursue partnership opportunities that enhance market presence and drive new revenue streams.ย 
  • Promote Heritage Park as a premier location for events, tourism experiences, and film production.ย 
  • Build relationships with industry experts, including those within the film and media sector, to increase Heritage Park's profile and presence.ย 

    Collaboration & Internal Alignmentย 

      • Foster cross-functional alignment across Business Development, Event Planning, Operations, and Marketing to enable the successful sale and delivery of a seamless, end-to-end client experience.ย 
      • Establish clear processes for the transition of confirmed business to internal teams, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and accountability.ย 
      • Partner with Marketing and the Sales Manager to inform and align lead generation strategies, campaign effectiveness, and market positioning in support of outbound sales objectives.ย 
      • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all business streams, ensuring alignment between sales strategy and operational capacity.ย 
      Sales Reporting and CRM Managementย 
      • Oversee CRM strategy and data integrity, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete pipeline and client information.ย 
      • Monitor and analyze sales performance, pipeline health, and conversion metrics to inform decision-making and strategic adjustments.ย 
      • Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership, including forecasts, trends, risks, and growth opportunities.ย 
      • Leverage data and analytics to refine sales strategies and identify new revenue opportunities.ย 
      Organizational Excellence and Wellbeingย

        Required Qualifications:ย ย 
      • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or revenue generation, preferably in events, hospitality, or tourism.ย 
      • Demonstrated success leading sales strategy, pipeline development, and achieving revenue targets.ย 
      • Experience in leading or mentoring team members, or providing functional leadership within a sales environment.ย 
      • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans.ย 
      • Advanced communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.ย 
      • Proven ability to build relationships and represent an organization in external, high-impact settings.ย 
      • Experience with CRM systems, sales reporting, and performance analytics.ย 
      • All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.       • Combination of officebased work, onsite meetings, and local travel
      • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, including weather extremes
      • May be physically demanding; ability to lift items, stand for extended periods, and walk through the Park during event setup and takedown is required.ย 

      Hours of Work:ย 

      • The standard hours for this position are 40 hours per week;ย  ย 
      • The schedule will generally be five consecutive days per week (Monday to Friday); andย 
      • Occasional holiday, evening, and weekend work may be requiredย 
      • Flexible hours may be required to accommodate client meetings or events
