Partner Success information

What is a partner success?

Partner Success roles focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with a company's business partners. Professionals in these positions ensure that partners achieve their desired outcomes when collaborating with the company, providing support, guidance, and resources as needed. They often act as the main point of contact, helping partners navigate challenges and maximize the value of the partnership. Typical tasks include onboarding new partners, addressing concerns, monitoring performance metrics, and driving mutual growth initiatives.

How does a partner success professional typically collaborate with internal teams to support external partners?

Partner Success professionals frequently work cross-functionally, coordinating with sales, product, and customer support teams to ensure that external partners receive timely assistance and resources. They act as a bridge, communicating partner needs and feedback internally, and aligning company offerings with partner goals. This collaboration helps resolve issues efficiently, drive mutual growth, and foster long-term relationships. Expect regular meetings and joint projects with various departments to ensure partner satisfaction and success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a partner success manager, and why are they important?

Familiarity with CRM platforms, data analytics tools, and partner management software is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration skills help you build trust and effectively address partner needs. These competencies are essential for driving partner satisfaction, retention, and mutual business growth.

We are equally committed to building a diverse workforce and inclusive culture where employees can use their talents to thrive and grow professionally with the firm.
The Head of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for identifying, developing, negotiating, and scaling strategic partnerships that enhance Janney's value proposition, accelerate organic growth, and expand opportunities for client acquisition, advisor recruiting, and advisor success. This role partners closely with leaders across Wealth Solutions, Private Client Group (PCG), Legal & Compliance, Marketing, and Technology, to evaluate partnership opportunities, structure commercial agreements, and drive successful implementation.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute Janney's strategic partnership strategy to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and grow relationships that generate client referrals, advisor recruiting opportunities, and enhance client and advisor capabilities.
  • Source and cultivate relationships with regional banks, CPA and professional services firms, fintech providers, wealth technology companies, and other strategic organizations that align with Janney's growth objectives.
  • Establish a disciplined process to evaluate and partner with various firms that will complement the Janney service model.
  • Structure partnership agreements, business cases, and commercial arrangements that balance growth opportunities with financial, operational, legal, and regulatory considerations.
  • Create scalable partnership frameworks, implementation playbooks, and governance processes that accelerate onboarding and maximize long-term partner success.
  • Partner with various areas across the firm to successfully launch, support, and optimize strategic partnerships.
  • Monitor partnership performance through defined metrics, identifying opportunities to improve referral activity, advisor engagement, client acquisition, and overall return on investment.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive partnerships, advisor recruiting dynamics, and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities that strengthen Janney's competitive position.
  • Build strong relationships with senior executives, external partners, and advisors while serving as a trusted representative of Janney in strategic discussions and negotiations.
  • Provide strategic support to the Chief Wealth Solutions Officer by preparing executive presentations, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, monitoring key priorities, and driving follow-through on strategic projects.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential initiatives with sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to influence outcomes across the organization without direct authority.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant professional designation preferred.
  • Ten or more years of progressive experience in wealth management, financial services, business development, strategic partnerships, corporate strategy, consulting, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of the wealth management ecosystem, including broker-dealers, RIAs, banks, professional referral networks, and advisor recruiting dynamics.
  • Demonstrated success developing, negotiating, and managing strategic partnerships or complex commercial relationships.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience evaluating business opportunities, partnership economics, and strategic investments.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders both internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive execution across multiple stakeholders without direct management responsibility.
  • Highly analytical, organized, and results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information and executive-level priorities.
  • Passion for building collaborative relationships and creating innovative partnerships that deliver measurable value for clients, advisors, and the firm.
