Job description

Workstream is a mission-driven company building the all-in-one HR, payroll, and hiring platform for managing the hourly workforce. There are 2.7 billion hourly workers, making up 80% of the global workforce, but this market has been heavily underserved by technology and deserves better. Workstream has been purpose-built for the hourly workforce from day one so that these businesses and their employees can thrive.
Our customers include leading brands from multiple sectors, including Burger King, Carl's Jr./Hardee's, IHOP, KFC, and Culvers. We are a high growth series B company and quickly expanding our product portfolio to deliver on our vision. We are backed by legendary VCs and industry experts like Founders Fund, BOND, and Coatue.
Grow With Us
We are looking for a highly customer-obsessed, strategic, and execution-driven Product Manager to own key product areas across Workstream's platform.
You'll own your product area end-to-end - defining its strategy, roadmap, and long-term vision. From customer discovery and hypothesis development through execution, iteration, and measurable business outcomes, you'll shape the product narrative, set north-star metrics, and drive the investments that improve how hourly businesses hire, manage, and retain their workforce.
This role is built for someone who thrives in fast-paced startup environments, genuinely enjoys spending time with customers, and pairs sharp strategic thinking with relentless execution. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Sales, Customer Success, Business Development, and Leadership to surface opportunities, prioritize ruthlessly, and ship products that move the needle.
This is a full-time, hybrid position with 1 to 3 days a week in-office to support close cross-functional collaboration.
Day In The Life
  • Own product strategy, roadmap, and execution for a core Workstream product area
  • Define product vision, north star metrics, and success criteria aligned with company priorities
  • Spend significant time with customers, users, and customer-facing teams to identify patterns, pain points, and emerging market opportunities
  • Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Business Development, and Operations to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable product solutions
  • Build and manage relationships with strategic external partners (e.g. job boards, integrations, ecosystem partners) and continuously improve product capabilities through these partnerships
  • Conduct market, competitive, and customer research to develop and validate product hypotheses
  • Take a hypothesis-driven, experimentation-first approach to product discovery and iteration
  • Write detailed product specifications, user stories, and UX requirements that enable high-quality execution
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Design teams to ship products quickly while balancing speed, quality, and long-term scalability
  • Be highly resourceful and pragmatic in solving customer problems-whether through automation, integrations, operational workflows, or lightweight solutions
  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, GTM, and executive stakeholders
  • Present product strategy, roadmap progress, and business impact across all levels of the organization
Who You Are
  • 5 to 7+ years of Product Management experience, ideally in SaaS, growth, marketplace, or startup environments
  • Experience utilizing AI to make you and your team more effective
  • Understanding of AI landscape and tools
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, scaling startup (typically <500 employees) or demonstrated ability to thrive in high-growth environments
  • Proven track record of owning product initiatives from concept through launch (0โ†’1) and iteration (1โ†’N), incorporating both Go To Market and PLG motions
  • Strong customer empathy and genuine enthusiasm for talking directly with users
  • Excellent analytical, strategic, and hypothesis-driven problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong partnership skills across Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Operations
  • Ability to move quickly, prioritize effectively, and operate with resourcefulness in ambiguous environments
  • Experience writing product specs, user stories, and translating business needs into product execution
Location Requirements
While we are looking for the best talent globally, the ideal candidate will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area to collaborate closely with our HQ. We are also open to candidates in Vancouver and Utah who can effectively manage the travel requirements between our primary hubs.
Nice To Have
  • Experience in growth product management or marketplace products
  • Experience with HR tech, hiring, payroll, scheduling, workforce management, or local business software
  • Familiarity with job board ecosystems, integrations, or external platform partnerships
  • Experience working with offshore or distributed engineering teams
  • Background in hourly work industries such as restaurants, retail, hospitality, or frontline operations
  • Experience with one or more of the following product categories: HRIS, Payroll, Scheduling, Time & Attendance, or Hiring

What We Offer
  • A mission-driven and value-based company dedicated to empower deskless workers and local businesses
  • An early employee opportunity at a Series B hyper-growth startup; work with the founding team and industry veterans to accelerate your career
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision. We pay 95% of your premiums for our employees and 85% for dependents
  • 401K Plan
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Flexible PTO

Salary Range
In compliance with applicable pay transparency laws, the base salary range for this role varies by location:
  • San Francisco and Menlo Park, CA: $150,000 to $170,000
  • Lehi, UT: $130,000 to $150,000
  • Vancouver, BC: $100,000 to $130,000

These ranges are not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skill set, experience, job scope, geographic location, and current market data.
