Department Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement (CRE)
Responsibilities - Responsible for coordinating Center for Undergraduate Research & Academic Engagement (CRE) outreach and communications efforts to include written and graphic communications, outreach and information sessions, and general advising for the office. This position also supervises an Editing, Writing, and Media intern and serves as the CRE liaison for the HSF Undergraduate Research Society, as well as coordinates several annual events, including Fall and Summer Research Days, Nourishing Creativity at the Undergraduate Research Symposium, the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference, and the biannual Florida Undergraduate Research Posters at the Capitol.
- Develops and coordinates CRE's newsletter, social media, and outreach campaigns including digital, printed, and video media to promote the office and its programs by engaging students, faculty, and alumni through the various platforms. Responsible for the review of CRE or related program publications or articles both within the CRE and in collaboration with University Communications and campus-wide announcements. Responsible for creating and maintaining alumni tracking, networking, and engagement opportunities. Supervises and helps select intern staff needed to support the goals and mission of the office.
- Responsible for CRE administrative and operational activities including the organization of CRE events like the Fall and Summer Research Days, Nourishing Creativity at the Undergraduate Research Symposium, the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference, the biannual Florida Undergraduate Research Posters at the Capitol, and other events, as needed.
- Serves as the main advisor for students interested in becoming part of the research, creative, global, innovation, and entrepreneurial work of the office. Conducts info sessions, workshops, and trainings.
Responsible for collaborating interdepartmentally and externally to supervise and support various efforts including the HSF Undergraduate Research Society and other HSF and UGS initiatives. Maintains partnerships with Undergraduate Studies, Honors, CARE, and other campus partners and departmental liaisons to provide outreach and academic engagement activities for students.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and four years experience related to media, communications, and/or marketing services or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel.
- Ability to interpret and explain policies to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Attention to detail and the highest standard of integrity are imperative.
- Excellent computer, creative problem-solving, and written and communication skills are essential.
- Must have the unique ability to deal with people calmly and confidently.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of academic program planning, development, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to professionally maintain organizational social media platforms while ensuring consistent communication, engagement, and public-facing content standards.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
- Event planning experience.
- Experience with supervising small groups, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring efficient day-to-day workflow.
