Job description

Are you ready to turn your passion for storytelling into real-world impact?

At the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA), we believe that every senior and patient in our community deserves to live with dignity, comfort, and care. Our Foundation team works tirelessly to fuel this mission-and we are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Development Specialist to help us build and nurture the relationships that make our work possible.

If you are a gifted writer, a natural relationship-builder, and someone who loves seeing the direct results of a well-crafted campaign, this is your opportunity to shine. In this role, you will be the voice and the engine behind our digital giving, donor stewardship, and community outreach.

For nearly 100 years, the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA) has been a trusted pioneer in hospice care, helping our neighbors age with dignity and independence. Our mission-driven work spans 16 counties across North Texas-including Collin, Dallas, Denton, Kaufman, and Tarrant to rural communities in Fannin and Navarro-ensuring no one faces life's transitions alone. As a non-profit, we prioritize people over profits, treating every patient like family and maintaining a gold standard of clinical excellence. Beyond hospice, our community roots run deep through programs like Meals on Wheels.

We offer a competitive salary with mileage reimbursement and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability coverage. Employees also receive a 401(k) with a 6% company match and two-year vesting, generous PTO with six paid holidays and flexible days, professional development and education reimbursement opportunities, and the support of a mission-driven work environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive Giving Campaigns: Lead the execution of our Direct Response and Digital Giving campaigns, partner with vendors to craft compelling fundraising materials, and manage special seasonal giving programs.
  • Steward Donors: Build warm connections with supporters through personalized phone calls, hand-written notes, and prompt, thoughtful acknowledgments.
  • Engage the Community: Direct our Young Professionals Group and step out to represent VNA at fundraising events, outreach activities, and public speaking engagements.
  • Write & Research: Collaborate on print and digital marketing pieces, and research potential new donors for the team.
  • Manage Donor Data: Actively record correspondence and track giving trends using Raiser's Edge NXT to keep our database accurate and effective.

What You'll Bring:

  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Outstanding written, verbal, and public speaking abilities, with a creative approach to strategic communications.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, or PR; familiarity with the Dallas philanthropic landscape is a major plus.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree is required, ideally with a focus in English, Journalism, or Public Relations.
  • Tech Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office; experience with Raiser's Edge NXT is a plus (or a strong willingness to learn it).
  • Personality: A flexible, proactive team player who handles donor interactions with true warmth, courtesy, and integrity.

Ready to Apply?
