Job description

Reports to: Regional Director

Schedule:  Full time; primarily Monday through Friday, 7am-5pm.  More details are available upon interviewing.

Job Summary

The Director of Environmental Services is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the housekeeping department within a 93 bed hospital facility. This role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff by coordinating and supporting all departmental activities. The Director partners closely with hospital leadership and clinical teams to maintain high standards of service excellence, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilties:

  • Lead, train, coach, and develop a team of about 40 environmental services associates to deliver consistent, highquality service
  • Oversee the department's financial performance, including monitoring expenses and productivity metrics
  • Develop and manage the department's operating budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets
  • Coordinate housekeeping operations with clinical and nonclinical departments to support hospital operations
  • Maintain active communication with hospital administration and departmental leaders
  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise daily EVS functions and workflows
  • Establish work standards and implement policies and procedures that promote efficiency and quality
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Proactively support facility goals, performance improvement initiatives, and patient satisfaction outcomes
  • Demonstrate strong leadership in achieving performance objectives and service standards
  • Participate in and support Total Quality Management and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Environmental Services or housekeeping management experience, preferably in a hospital, senior living, hotel, or comparable hospitality environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and apply financial, productivity, and operational data
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on operational efficiency and service excellence
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills across all levels of an organization
  • High commitment to customer service, cleanliness, and quality standards
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fastpaced environment while meeting goals and deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
  • Proven participative leadership style with the ability to organize, prioritize, and lead teams
  • Strong organizational, administrative, stressmanagement, and followthrough skills
  • Proficiency in Windowsbased software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
