Part-Time Career Coach for Job-Ready Majors | 15 Hours Per Week

Are you passionate about helping students achieve their career goals? We are seeking a dedicated and motivated part-time Career Coach for Job-Ready Majors to join our team.

The Career Coach for Job-Ready Majors provides career development services to students enrolled in job-ready majors and certificate programs. The Career Coach works 15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. The position is funded-funded through the Perkins grant. This role is based out of the Newtown Campus but requires occasional travel to the Epstein Campus and Upper Bucks Campus.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Student Career Support: Provide targeted outreach and career coaching to students in job-ready majors. Engage with students during one-on-one coaching sessions as well as virtual communication via Handshake. Help students with resume and cover letter writing, choosing a major, career exploration, internship and job search strategies, interviewing skills, and LinkedIn. Utilize career tools such as TypeFocus, Career Cruising, and Handshake. Email students about career events and job opportunities. Assist students with disabilities in navigating the job search process. Collaborate with Job-Ready Career Coaches and Goals Coaches to coordinate efforts, plan events and workshops, and share resources.

  • Faculty and Classroom Integration: Perform outreach to faculty teaching job-ready majors to discuss opportunities for collaboration. Partner with faculty on course assignments for students such as resume critiques and mock interviews. Arrange classroom presentations on career-related topics. Market programs, events, and job postings to faculty through email or Handshake communication.

  • Career Presentations: Deliver presentations to classes and student groups on career topics, including resumes and cover letters, interviewing skills, professional networking and LinkedIn, job search strategies, and overview of Cooperative Education and Career Services.

  • Event and Program Support: Assist with programs and events sponsored by Cooperative Education and Career Services and other departments such as career fairs, presentations, and outreach tables.

  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of activities and student interactions in an occupational log using Excel or another identified tool. Write an annual assessment report to meet Perkins grant requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in higher education, career services, workforce development, or social services.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and oral/written communication skills for engaging with students individually and delivering group presentations.

  • Ability to collaborate professionally with faculty and staff across departments.

  • Strong customer service, counseling, and active listening skills.

  • Ability to relate to students from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including data tracking and report writing.

  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.

  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Familiar with web-based application and virtual communication platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

  • Experience using career management platforms such as Handshake.

  • Familiarity with career assessment tools.

  • HR experience is considered a plus.

HOURLY RANGE: $25.00 - $27.00 (commensurate with experience)
