This is a part-time position
GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: The Career Coach provides coaching services to assist students in defining a career goal and utilizing the career development resources on campus to help them prepare for a successful transition into their chosen career upon completion of their chosen credential(s). Reports to the Executive Director of Student Life and Career Development and works collaboratively with the Ivy + Career Link Talent Connection Manager, Advisors, College Connection Coaches, and other faculty and staff to meet the career development needs of students and to support meeting or exceeding campus metrics.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaches and tracks the progress of students in one-to-one and group coaching scenarios. Actions taken by students, under the guidance of the Career Coach, may include but are not limited to the student completing a career assessment, resume, LinkedIn profile, mock interviews, and employer engagement through different activities.
  • Partners with campus Talent Connection Manager, Admissions staff, Advisors, and other faculty and staff to provide pre-Ivy Tech and orientation experiences to support career and program selection.
  • Assists in efforts to build awareness of career coaching opportunities on campus and virtually. Partners with aligned campus stakeholders to promote a career development culture on the campus at large. Works collaboratively with cross-functional departments, including faculty, to deliver presentations and career-focused events.
  • Participates in professional growth, development, and training programs related to career coaching.
  • Participates in weekly and monthly meetings with the Executive Director of Student Life and Career Development, the student success team, and others as needed. Participates in related annual summits and/or retreats, as well as project-based work as deemed appropriate or necessary.

This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time up to 28 hours/week

Starting Hourly Rate: $20.00 per hr.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Executive Director of Student Life and Career Development

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in career development and/or coaching is required.
  • Proficiency, familiarity, or certifications in standard career assessments such as: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong InterestInventory, and Clifton StrengthsFinder preferred.
  • Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities to concurrently manage numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses and professional development activities.
  • Ability to work within aself-directed framework and scale alarge project required.
