Systems Administrator
The Opportunity:
In this role, you'll design, operate, and evolve the systems that power national-security missions. From enterprise Windows and Linux servers to virtualization, storage, and backup environments, you'll keep mission platforms online, secure, and recoverable.
This isn't a passive maintenance role - you'll architect new solutions from the ground up, tune performance across clusters, and push automation deeper into daily operations. You'll balance reliability with innovation, driving modernization while ensuring every configuration meets the mission's uptime demands.

What You'll Work On:
  • Engineer and maintain enterprise Windows Server and Linux environments such as RHEL or Ubuntu supporting production and mission systems.
  • Administer and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Broadcom, or Microsoft Hyper-V to sustain high-availability clusters.
  • Manage storage and backup solutions, including SAN, NAS, Veeam, Commvault, Cohesity, or Veritas NetBackup, ensuring integrity and recoverability.
  • Implement and document Highly Available (HA) architectures with redundancy, clustering, and replication.
  • Maintain DNS, routing, and VLAN configurations supporting secure multi-network environments.
  • Enforce DoD STIGs and enterprise baselines for configuration compliance and security posture.
  • Automate patching and configuration tasks with PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible to reduce downtime and error.
  • Collaborate across cyber, network, and application teams to sustain mission-critical availability.

You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience administering Windows Server or Linux in production or mission environments
  • 3+ years of experience managing enterprise virtualization, including VMware vSphere, Broadcom, or Hyper-V
  • 3+ years of experience administering enterprise storage and backup systems such as SAN, NAS, Veeam, Commvault, Cohesity, or Veritas NetBackup
  • Experience managing DNS, routing, VLANs, and user connectivity across multiple domains
  • Knowledge of DoD STIGs and secure configuration baselines
  • Ability to design and maintain Highly Available solutions
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
  • CompTIA Security+ CE Certification

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience administering Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, or DHCP in hybrid or cloud-joined environments
  • Experience with Linux, including RHEL or Ubuntu, server hardening and configuration management with Ansible or PowerShell DSC
  • Experience supporting database or application servers within clustered environments
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation or DevOps tooling, including Ansible, Jenkins, or Terraform
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
